![]() My 60lb set up i can shoot 400 spine out of. I also have 700 grain that flys like a dart and a smoking 191fps. ![]() The 300 spine just wouldnt fly the way i wanted. My hunting set up is a 570 grain 250 spine arrow with 225 or so up front cut at 28.25 inches ctc coming out of 70lb 330ibo bow. I shoot 60 to 70 at 29 and can use 400 to 200 spine arrows depending on the build. Thats were testing different spines come in. Most charts wont show what spine you should be if you load the front past 125 grains. To me, the arrow chart is a good general tool to use to figure out the range of spine you should look at. While I'm pretty confident in my ability to shoot with decent penetration out to 25 yards with a mechanical BH I question penetration at 30-40 yards, so I'd like to know your thoughts on my set up and whether you think the spine charts are only "generally" accurate or "definitive" Not follow the charts and go with a 350+ spine arrow. going with a different 400 spine arrow with a higher GPI (e.g. cutting an inch or so off the tip and adding 50-75g nserts (I can do this on one bow set up only due to DL), orĢ. The spine charts do not include or address the impact of weighted inserts or FPs/BHs over 125g, so I'm considering:ġ. ![]() Since my arrow is slightly on the lighter side at 393g with a 125g BH, I'd like to increase the FOC and go with a slightly heavier (but not too heavy) arrow. Last week, I tried a stiffer arrow spine CX max hunter 350 (8.9 gpi) and noticed a much straighter arrow flight with virtually no wind drift. I've switched from 100g to 125g FPs and I notice less wind drift and slightly better groupings. Sometimes, I'll notice a sightly "squirly" flying arrow or wind drift beyond 35 yards. My total arrow weight with a 100g FP is 368g (and with a 125 FP is 393g).Įvery spine chart I've looked at indicates the 400 spine arrow is correct for 26-28" arrows in the DW range of 50-59lbs (more or less). I have 2 bows and on each I shoot a 27 1/4" CX max Hunter 250 (400 spine and 8gpi) arrow with a DW of 53-57lbs. Just curious to know your thoughts on Arrow Spine Chart accuracy and whether you think they are "definitive" or "general" ? ![]()
